Nick Rusling
Founder & CEO
Purpose built premises became essential in order to display complete ranges of upright and grand pianos. Our elegant Regency style showrooms complete with Minstrels Gallery was designed to offer you an unparalleled experience when choosing your piano.
Founded in 1985, in a small 250-year old Coach House in Swansea, Coach House Pianos was a family business with a clear vision from day one.
Inspired by a lifetime love of music and a commitment to make music accessible to all, Coach House was created by experienced French polisher, Nick Rusling.
Having worked alongside an uncle, who ran the Bristol Piano Company, Nick was eager to share his expertise in piano restoration.
With room for just 23 pianos, the Coach House initially comprised a small piano showroom and a restoration and polishing workshop. However, as the word spread to the local community, the company quickly outgrew the old building.
With a move to new, purpose-built facilities on Carmarthen Road and the support of his brother Simon (who joined in 1993, training as a piano technician), as well as Jack Stevens (previously of Duck, Son and Pinker), Coach House Pianos went from strength to strength.
The reputation of this close-knit team, and their passion for the subject, quickly allowed them to establish long-lasting relationships with leading piano teachers, tuners and other industry specialists. This network of expertise, and Nick’s knowledge of antique and unusual pianos, continues to underpin and drive the business today.
In the era before the internet, working in collaboration with other experts allowed the company to grow organically and retain its commitment to traditional customer care and personal service.
These qualities quickly came to define Coach House pianos and differentiate the business when it moved online.
As the team’s influence spread, enquiries began to come from further and further afield. One enquiry from a princess in the United Arab Emirates, led to Coach House becoming the trusted supplier to the Dubai Royal Family – a relationship that continues to the present day.
Today, Coach House is synonymous with the world’s finest pianos, personal service and expertise in sourcing, installing and caring for premium pianos. With close ties to the world’s leading piano brands, including Steinway & Sons, Petrof, Bösendorfer and Fazioli, we provide pianos to everyone from Katherine Jenkins and Alexis Ffrench, to the QE2, Eton College and Downton Abbey.
However, our simple commitment to friendly personal service and a willingness to find the right piano for every player remains unchanged.
To bring the world a lifetime of playing pleasure.
As the world’s most trusted piano connoisseurs, we will inspire every player to find their perfect match. “On personal recommendation, we took the train from East Sussex to Swansea where Coach House gave us a really tailored review of their pianos both in the showroom and the workshop. We viewed several pianos and ended up purchasing a Steinway Boston upright which I am absolutely delighted with. My piano was delivered within a week of our visit and taken up our very narrow staircase whilst our old one was carried down. The three muscular delivery men said that if it had been 1″ wider they would not have managed it! They were so practical. I cannot believe what a pleasure it has been to deal with Coach House who went out of their way to ensure that the piano was the right one for me”
“Anybody can beat a price, no other piano supplier in the UK can attain to the high level of service one received from Coach House Pianos. It is very clear that all advice given had been substantiated and built-on throughout the 30+ years of their experience within the industry and you receive all this as an extra bonus on top of their guaranteed fairest price. Buying a piano was a journey in my experience and from my detailed research I would thoroughly recommend it is only worth going on this journey with Coach House.”
“Exceptional service. I could not have wished for a better buying experience of my dream piano than what I received from Coach House Pianos – I truly felt valued as a customer. Fabulous showroom with many many pianos to try, very helpful staff, going the extra mile (or two!) to ensure a smooth transaction and a wonderful outcome. Highly recommend.”

“This gem of a piano shop in Swansea. It has to be the best place to go to purchase a piano. The selection of wonderful pianos was mouth-watering, the personal attention given to us by their staff second to none, in every way we were treated like royalty.
