In 1794, Ignaz Bösendorfer was born in Vienna, and started an apprenticeship with Joseph Brodmann, becoming a gifted piano maker in his own right and receiving his first award from the Viennese Academy of Arts in 1815. From then, Ignaz’s skill and knowledge led him to take over the firm from Joseph Brodmann, who retired in 1828. The rest, as they say, is history.

Today, Bösendorfer is one of the most well-respected piano brands in the world.
