I had been advised by friends of the excellence of Coach House so drove over to Swansea with the intention of buying, probably, a second hand Bechstein or Bösendorfer.
To my surprise, it was the Steinways I fell in love with, finding them superior in every way.
I’d thought a Steinway would be too bright tonally, but the beautiful model V I settled on was mellow, while being clear as a bell.
With some excellent help from a local technician, recommended by Coach House, we made the piano fit the room’s environment perfectly. Every piano needs to be suited to the room where it will live.
There was no pushiness, just infinite patience from the expert staff, as I made several visits, mulling over options. If anything, they wanted to make sure I wasn’t over-spending!

“From the moment I arrived at the Coach House showroom I experienced first class customer service.
All the staff I spoke to were extremely helpful, well informed and clearly had a wealth of experience in all aspects of the piano business. They answered all my questions, gave me excellent balanced advice, allowed me to spend several uninterrupted hours playing a range of pianos, and even provided me with several cups of coffee during my visit.
Nothing was too much trouble, and any potential problems with disposal of my existing piano were immediately solved. The range of new and second hand pianos was impressive.
I never felt any sales pressure and was given space and time to make a decision.
Subsequent phone calls and emails were unfailingly warm and friendly and I felt I was dealing with people I could trust at all times.
Delivery of the new piano was extremely efficient and once again, the staff were friendly, polite and professional. Within a couple of hours a piano technician arrived and the problem was solved (It was very simple to fix and was nothing more than a small mechanism slipping when the piano was moved).
