History of Piano Building in Eisenberg
Adolph Geyer, born on November 23, 1846, in Eisenberg, founded the city's piano industry. After gaining experience in Zeitz and North America, he established his piano factory in Eisenberg in 1877.
Robert Weissbrod, born on March 16, 1860, joined Geyer in Eisenberg after working in Jena and Leipzig. He later started his own piano business with August Pape in 1884.
The Fuchs & Möhr factory, founded on January 1, 1921, by Gustav Fuchs and Ernst Möhr, became known for its award-winning handcrafted pianos.
Despite WWII challenges, the company continued under Hermann Fuchs. After WWII, the piano industry in Eisenberg adapted, becoming state-owned in 1948 as "VEB Pianofabrik Eisenberg." Production expanded, and a piano maker training center was established.
