Vienna is a city steeped in rich, cultural history and Bösendorfer is a big part of that history and is the city’s sole remaining piano maker.
The Bösendorfer Secession Grand Piano is a celebration of the Vienna Secession Movement, a movement founded during the Art Nouveau era and well-known for its use of gold motifs, symbolising growth and light.
The Design
The Bösendorfer Secession Grand takes the symbol of the Secession, the laurel leaves, and brings them in 23-carat gold on the classic black background on the inside of the piano lid.
The inner rim and pin block are a tender green shade symbolising the Secession movement’s motto “Ver Sacrum” or “Sacred Spring”.
This motto is engraved and 23-carat gilded in the music stand, along with other elements of the main façade. The legs of the grand piano also feature elements of the Secession Building and hand-gilded lines frame the lid edge and lyre box.
No detail has been overlooked and the result is a piano that is a complete work of art and a true celebration of the city in which it was crafted.

As a member of the Collector’s Item series, this design is limited to 21 instruments worldwide and comes with an individually numbered plaque.
