Coach House Pianos was thrilled to be showcasing the stunning Bösendorfer Secession 214VC grand piano at Joseph Giles’ new product range launch event.

Bösendorfer Secession: Part of the Architecture Series

With the Secession piano, Bösendorfer is reviving the tradition of piano inspired by architecture.

Inspired by Otto Wagner and Gustav Klimt, Joseph Maria Olbrich drafted the Secession building in Vienna, a “temple of art.” It is a key work of Viennese Jugendstil and a synthesis of antiquity and modernity, a novel construction of typological and symbolic references. Olbrich created a stark contrast between the solemn entrance and the prosaic utility of the exhibition wing.

Today, the Secession is one of the most photographed buildings in Vienna.

Taking the symbol of the Secession, the laurel leaves, and the motto, “Ver Sacrum” or “Sacred Spring”, Bösendorfer has crafted an exceptionally beautiful piano that truly celebrates Vienna’s Secession Movement.

The combination of gold and green within the Secession was the perfect match for Control Room A as you can see below.

This stunning work of art is limited to just 21 instruments worldwide and at Coach House Pianos, we are proud to have the ninth edition of this series at our London showroom.
