Kawai K-500 Upright Piano – c2020

This Kawai K-500 upright piano was built in circa 2020 and comes in the highly popular polished black cabinet. A substantial modern upright, it combines an even, vibrant tone with a carefully regulated touch that gives the player excellent control across the keyboard.

At 130cm tall, the K-500 sits towards the larger end of Kawai’s K Series upright range. Its scale is designed to provide generous tonal power and dynamic range, making it well suited to serious home playing, teaching and more demanding repertoire. Kawai equips the K-500 with its Millennium III upright action, NEOTEX key surfaces and double-felted mahogany-core hammers.

This particular piano has received thorough preparation in our workshops. The casework has been carefully buffed and polished, while the interior has undergone a full clean. The action has also been regulated to create an even and predictable touch throughout the keyboard. This consistency makes the piano approachable for developing pianists while still providing the control an experienced player will appreciate.

Acoustically, the K-500 has a vibrant and notably even character. The tone remains well balanced as the player moves through the registers, allowing musical lines to develop naturally without abrupt changes in colour. Its combination of tonal clarity and dynamic scope gives the pianist plenty of opportunity to shape phrases and explore contrasting levels of expression.

The regulated action complements this tonal character particularly well. An even response from note to note makes it easier to control dynamics accurately and gives the player confidence when working on more detailed repertoire.

For anyone looking for a relatively recent, high-quality upright with the scale and musical capabilities to support continued development, this Kawai K-500 offers an appealing combination of modern construction, careful workshop preparation and rewarding musical versatility.
