Steinway & Sons Model S Grand Piano

Steinway & Sons craftspeople in Hamburg, Germany, handcrafted this Model S baby grand piano around 1995. It comes in the highly popular and desirable polished black cabinet finish. A particularly lovely example, it combines traditional Steinway warmth and richness with the distinctive sparkle and clarity that make these instruments rewarding to play.

The same private owner has enjoyed this piano since new and has clearly cherished it throughout its life. Careful ownership and exceptional maintenance have kept the instrument in excellent acoustic and aesthetic condition for the past three decades.

Renowned and highly respected piano technician John Ross has also expertly set up this instrument. John spent more than 30 years as Head Technician at the Steinway Park Royal Workshops. His meticulous attention has helped reveal the piano’s musical qualities and refine its performance. The resulting touch feels beautifully responsive and gives the pianist excellent control and precision across the keyboard.

Tonally, this Model S offers a wonderfully warm and inviting character alongside that unmistakable Steinway sparkle. This combination provides an attractive range of tonal colour across the instrument. Pianists can move naturally between delicate, expressive passages and music requiring greater confidence and presence.
